An Honor Celebrating Excellence in Medical Education and Mentorship at Zanmi Lasante

Zanmi Lasante is thrilled to announce that Dr. Fritz Verly Vernet, Medical Education Director and Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency at Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais (HUM) in Haiti, as well as the Nephrology Program Coordinator at Zanmi Lasante, has been awarded the prestigious "Physician Educator" Award by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGME-I). This esteemed recognition highlights Dr. Vernet's unwavering dedication to medical education, his exceptional mentoring abilities, and his relentless efforts in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Dr. Vernet has long been a cornerstone of Zanmi Lasante’s medical training programs. Known for his keen sensitivity to the needs of residents and fellows, he has consistently fostered an environment that promotes professionalism, excellence, and ethical values. His leadership and innovative approach to medical education have not only inspired his colleagues and students but also raised the standards of internal medicine training at HUM. He played a crucial role in helping the Internal Medicine program achieve ACGME-I accreditation, making it the first in the Caribbean to receive this distinction.

In receiving the ACGME-I "Physician Educator" Award, Dr. Vernet joins an elite group of global medical educators recognized for their commitment to advancing graduate medical education. "This award is a testament to Dr. Vernet’s impact, not only at Zanmi Lasante but also in promoting medical education on an international scale," said Dr. Ornella Sainterant, Director of Medical Education at Zanmi Lasante.
